No Belt Tests.
Promotion Fees.
There is no reason to charge you, as a parent, for a new colored belt we give in class. You shouldn’t have to pay every three months for us to tell your child they’ve been working hard and getting better.
You know this.
We know this.
At Submission Systems, your monthly tuition covers all aspects of grading and promotion.
YOU SHOULD NEVER PAY FOR YOUR CHILD TO RECEIVE WHAT THEY’VE ALREADY EARNED,
Safe.
Clean.
Secure.
Jiu-jitsu comes with inherent risk. Any sport, much less a combat sport carries presents the chance for injury. At Submission Systems we try to mitigate this by structuring practice in a safe, yet engaging way as we teach our students the rules and techniques of the sport. Our mats are cleaned after every class session and we offer clean restroom facilities as well as safe and spacious parking.
Only our instructors are allowed on the mats during kids classes, making sure you know who has access to your child. EVERY SINGLE Youth Class is taught by our owner and head black belt instructor, Nathan Hedrick. We currently have only one assistant coach, Mitchell Gray, a parent who has been background checked.
Your Child’s Safety is our Top Priority.
Rank and Promotion
In Jiu-Jitsu, there is a separate belt system used for children under the age of 16. While many people enjoy it as a hobby or martial art, there is also a strong tradition of competition and sport. A black belt in Jiu-Jitsu represents a long commitment to training and an ability to execute in live situations against fully resisting opponents. The youth equivalent to this would be the green belt. A green belt in Jiu-Jitsu SHOULD be somewhat close to the age of 16 and capable of defending against, and oftentimes controlling and submitting, an untrained adult.
There are five colors of rank for Youth Jiu-Jitsu. White, Gray, Yellow, Orange, and Green. Each of the four colors have 3 different levels, for example at green belt you have green/white, solid green, and green/black (see below). At each belt rank, students will receive one stripe for every three months of training until their 4th stripe after which they will be promoted to the next rank at the next quarterly promotion ceremony.
**We do not test for rank, nor are you ever going to be charged for their promotion to a higher belt. Rank is a representation of time and commitment put into the art and skill developed through hard work, not a one-day cash grab. Every step they climb up this ladder will be earned, never bought.**
Green/White belt is the completion of our standard curriculum for youth. Promotion to solid green belt is reserved for students with a desire to bridge the gap into adult classes. Solid green represents a student who will automatically begin their journey into adulthood with one or more stripes on their adult white belt (given solely based on merit and not time spent training) after they turn 16. A green/black belt signifies that a student should expect to be promoted to blue belt (the first colored belt for adults) once they reach 16.
